DRAFT Proposed Structure for “spending” $750k DRAFT
The following is intended to form a “structure” for the CSHCA to use as it plans, budgets and spends our gift of $750k. It is assumed that the Executive Board will use this document (after review and changes) as the basis for working with the eight CSHCA committees (Beautification, Community Benefits, Events, Government Affairs, Outreach and Engagement, Planning, Public Health and Safety) to develop how we will use the $750k.
- A three year plan ( should it be 2, 3 4 or ?? years); therefore, $250k/year. Assumption is that we will seek, and receive, additional funding in the future.
- Hire staff and/or consultants to perform specific tasks built into the plans/budgets. The number of staff/consultants will vary according to the nature of the tasks.
- Any staff/consultant will report directly to the CSHCA President who will ensure that the tasks are undertaken and completed.
- Emphasis will include efforts to: A. Champion our Priorities; Comprehensive Planning, Infrastructure, Beautification, Walkways and Green Spaces. (As voted on by CSHCA Membership on December 2020.) B. Advocate before the Mayor, Governor, BPDA, other governmental offices and elected officials. C. Communicate our positions to members, neighbors, other organizations and media. D. Strategize to achieve desired results, such as: raise funding; create, promote and organize events; outreach to key targets; build our community; work with varied organizations. E. Support our business districts. Solve specific property problems, organize retail support for local businesses. Improve districts attractiveness (trees, traffic, parking, safety).
- Prepare separate Vision Statements for 3 areas: 1. CSHCA area, 2. Freeport St/Dorchester Ave/Bay St area and 3. broader area bounded by Uphams Corner, Hancock St, Freeport St, Morrissey Blvd, K Circle and South Bay (the last being the proposed new Planning District).
- Build productive relationships with other organizations, businesses and institutions in, and adjacent to, our area.
- Fund specific events/projects created by any CSHCA committee and approved by both the Executive Board and the membership.
