The Columbia-Savin Hill Civic Association Government Affairs Committee met on 7/17/24 to review the state’s Morrissey Commission work to re-do the Savin Hill waterfront.
Our top requests for the state’s Morrissey Commission include:
- Including K-Circle in the overall study because it is integral to the corridor
- Comprehensive planning for the area because planning for a road alone was not the original intention of the commission, and will lead to suboptimal results
- More community feedback, including looking at alternatives for building a wall between Savin Hill and the water
Note that we have received positive feedback from the BPDA, which has agreed to start a comprehensive plan for the general area in 2025, though this will not be in time for the Commission’s report.
We will schedule the next Government Affairs Committee meeting once we hear back from the state about the next Morrissey Commission meeting. We need your help to push elected officials to hold more meetings, as they promised, so that we can create a better road, waterfront, and community for all.
