Review of Community Picnic Event
- Great success.
- If you see old flyers, take them down.
- Next year, coordinate with Catherine O’Neill for funding for food trucks.
- In January, start looking into available grant money for events.
Neighborhood Yard Sale, Saturday, September 10, 9AM – 2 PM
- Heidi and Doreen have flyered the neighborhood.
- Reminders to get on the map have been posted to Savin Hill Facebook groups. Deadline to get on the map is September 4.
- Marketing includes Dorchester Reporter, Boston Calendar, Craigslist.
- Ask Des to send out a reminder of the event on Constant Contact.
- We have 23 homes participating so far.
- Heidi and Doreen will post maps the day before.
- Dennis Roach from trash pick-up promised the trucks will be out early in our area, but there may be a bit of overlap.
- Alix will set up a CSHCA table in front of the rock at the bottom of Savin Hill at 8:45 AM. Put out

Food Tour, Saturday, October 8
- Once the yard sale is over, information will be posted about the food tour.
- Michelle and Alix will meet with Annie to finalize details sometime next week.
- We need to find a printer for glossy print outs of the Food Tour Map.
- 5 Restaurants will be participating.
- Marketing and ticket sales
- Tickets are $50 each with a limit of 15 total.
- Michelle will look into using Eventbrite to sell the tickets. Does Eventbrite take a cut?
- We can also sell tickets via Venmo to CSHCA (Des).

- Michelle will present the event at the upcoming general meeting (9/12, 7 PM), and at E-board (9/13, 6 PM)
Rocktober Music in the Park, Sunday, October 15, 2-5 PM
- The main band is the Savin Hillbillies.
- We plan to have six acts of 20 minutes each, followed by an hour of the Savin Hillbillies. If we have more bands, we could expand the time frame to 1 PM – 5 PM.
- Three bands have confirmed.
- Other possibilities include:
- Sand Machine
- Aaron Bear
- R D King, classical guitarist
- The Carney’s
- An opera singer from Jones Hill
- There is no compensation planned for the musicians.
- We will set up a table for the musicians to promote themselves.
- Savin Hillbillies will provide the amps and mics.
- Heidi and Bill will contact neighbors Briege and Maureen to see if they will provide electricity for the event as last year. We have plenty of extension cords.
- Heidi and Doreen will design and post flyers, set up the directional signs, and advertise on social media, the Dorchester Reporter, and other venues.
Other business
- Determine the committee’s upcoming expenses – especially for the caroling event in December – to present to the general membership in October for a vote of approval in November.
- The Halloween Parade will take place towards the end of October. This event is organized by others outside our committee. We could reach out to help promote this event.
