Dorchester Day Parade

  • No one is available to participate or man a table.
  • Heidi will announce at the general membership meeting that no one volunteered to participate in the parade, so the money requested will not be spent.

Community Posting Boards

  • Bill will look into the creation and city approval of community posting boards.
  • See the board on Mill Street for a possible reference.
  • 8 possible sites include:
    • The Daily
    • Both T stops
    • McConnell Park
    • Harp and Bard
    • Ryan’s Playground
    • The corner of Pleasant and Stoughton streets near the school
    • Edward Everett Square

Surfrider Beach Clean-Up

  • June 9, 9 AM – noon, meeting place at the Malibu Parking lot.
  • We should have civic materials to hand out at this event.
  • Katrina will send the chairs information about the event to share with Des for distribution via Constant Contact to civic members. Language should be included for use on the CSHCA calendar.
  • John Mark from BC High and the Dorchester Yacht Club members were responsive to this event.
  • 118 people have scanned the QR code to date.
  • Alix can supply water in her orange barrel at Patten’s Cove.
  • Celina can supply water in her blue barrel where needed.
  • Amanda Grey from Councilor Fitzgerald’s office reports that Councilor Fitzgerald will be attending.

Neighborhood Yard Sale

  • Sat. September 7 with a rain date of 9/14.
  • The Pleasant Street fair is also on the 9/7 and a CSHCA presence is welcome there

Community Picnic

  • 9/21 with a rain date of 9/28 at Patten’s Cove
  • Alix will secure the proper permitting.
  • Entertainment will be Sand Machine and the Savin Hillbillies.
  • Ideas for catering include Migs Dogs and DJs. Alix will get a quote from Migs and inquire about permitting.
  • We need to get sponsors. Last year we had three sponsors who donated $500 each. We should aim for more. Ask Councilor Fitzgerald to make a donation.
  • Ask Southline to donate the portapotties and present them with a quote from Migs to see if they would be willing to sponsor that.
  • Doreen will ask James Hobin to donate a print for the raffles.
  • A request for funding can be made at the September General Membership Meeting.

Art in the Park with James Hobin

  • Doreen will contact James to work out the details for this event in October.
  • James should name his price for hosting the event.
  • Perhaps we can charge a nominal fee/suggested donation for participants to offset costs.
