Meeting Summary
The committee focused on:
- Efforts to reach out to potential supporters of Comprehensive Planning
-we reviewed our Target lists; heard comments; encouraged continued outreach
-suggestion that CSHCA organize a public meeting with targets and potential partners; general agreement to pursue
-would like input/participation on the coming Morrissey Transportation Commission
-reach out to urban planning students for help
- CSHCA Priorities for distributing Community Benefits Funds
-didn’t delve too deep into our existing priorities
-no disagreements with priorities but agreed we need a lot more work on actual dollar distributions
-seek BPDA clarification on how CB Funds are calculated
-what are Dot Bay City and Center Court CB Funds obligations (amounts)
- The $750k “gift” from Center Court developers
-some concern about image of accepting developer’s money
-concern about how the money will be managed
–need a 501 c 3 standing
–need clear guidelines on who will be money managers and under what rules
–need a legal document with Center Court, clarifying expectations, responsibilities
-maybe hire a consultant/urban planner to develop uses of funds
-fund a Dot Ave Main Street office (including a Slow Streets component)
-hire a lobbyist to help with achieving our priorities for the Community Benefits Funds ($100m ??)
-provide funding for local small businesses
-hire a CSHCA IT manager
-hire a consultant to push/guide Comprehensive planning
-fund CSHCA events
-hire architect for Dot Ave improvements
-hire a staff person for CSHCA (full or part time)
-beautify bridge on Savin Hill Ave
-clean up beach areas
