Announcements 

    • Glover’s Corner Plan: Development Ideas & Future Visions. November 8th from 6:00 – 7:30pm at Local 103 IBEW Hall (256 Freeport Street) More information is available at the BPDA site and here.
    • Dorchester Annual Tree Lighting: Join your neighbors and friends at the Mayor’s Tree Lighting at Robert Ryan’s Playground (corner of Dorchester Ave and Harborview Street). The lighting will be Friday after Thanksgiving starting at 5:15pm. Bring some cash to purchase holiday decorated wreaths. For the kids… HOT cocoa, treats and kid goodie bags to be provided. Santa will arrive at 6:00pm.
    • A meeting was held on October 30th to provide an update on the design plan for McConnell Park. An update on that meeting will be provided at our general meeting.
    • Fall Daffodil planting will be held on reschedule date FRIDAY November 9th at McConnell Park. Thank you to all in the Park’s Department,  volunteers, and Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department. The start time for this event will be confirmed at Monday’s general meeting.
    • Election updates: The State Election (including governor) is Tuesday November 6th. Please vote!!
    • Education Town Hall: Join At-Large Councilor, Annissa Essaibi-George in her series of city town hall meetings to discuss education in Boston Public Schools. The Dorchester Townhall will be Monday, November 26th from 7:00 -8:30pm at the Dot House Health Center (1353 Dorchester Ave).
    • Bayside Redevelopment: the UMASS redevelopment authority has launched a website for the general public to get updates on the next steps for the development. Visit the Bayside Site Development site for updates.

Speakers.

      1. Candidate for District Attorney, Rachel Rollins, will address the membership and provide her goals and objectives should she be elected.  More information about her and her campaign can be found thru the committee to elect her: Rollins For DA.
      2. Eversource representative, John Hoey, will present an update about the an electrical substation update that will connect the substation at Andrew Square to Dewar Street substation. A brief description of the project and timeline will be provided.
      3. Members of the Conservation Law Foundation (“CLF”) will discuss one of their focus agenda on Climate Change. With the Mayor’s recent announcement to protect Boston neighborhoods against rising sea levels, the mission of CLF is to ensure implementation of the plan. A focus on Columbia Point will be discussed. To learn more, visit the Resilient Boston Harbor site and the CLF focus upon Boston sea shores.
      4. Plastic Bag Ordinance: The new ordinance will be effective in December. Commissioner Bill Christopher and Constituent Services will address membership. A copy of ordinance is posted on the CSHCA site.
