- Dorchester Day Fundraiser…The HEAT IS ON… The Banshee will be representing CSHCA at the annual Chili Cookoff. (12th year)… on Sunday March 11 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. This is a great TASTE OF DORCHESTER event sampling the best chili from area restaurants. For more details, see:
2018 Chili Cookoff Tickets. - Martin Richard Foundation… “One Day” is Sunday April 15. We need several volunteers to assist at Ryan’s Playground. The Foundation is providing financial resources to purchases paint, trees, bulbs and mulch to beautify the park. The 2 hours on Sunday will be followed by a celebratory gathering later in day in Fields Corner. To help, SIGN UP at the general meeting on Monday, March 5th.
- Resident Parking in the neighborhood is expanding. An organized meeting to discuss resident parking is planned for April 10 at the CSHCA eboard at Savin Hill Apts on Auckland Street.
- Special Senate Election: to replace Linda Dorcena Forry. The Primary Election will still occur on April 3 followed by the Election on May 1. For more information about elections, see: Special Senate Election Details. Also, several civic associations will sponsor a meet-and-greet-the-candidates night on March 19th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the First Parish Church (10 Parish Street Dorchester). Refreshments will be served. More information and the event flyer are available in the CSHCA website.
- Moakley Park Vision Plan. CSHCA will be represented (hopefully) in an Advisory Group to look at the park in assisting the Park & Recreations Department to discuss and develop an updated vision for the park. We will ask and nominate a volunteer to represent CSHCA at the meeting
- Pedestrian Concerns at UMASS and Morrissey and Columbia Road and the on/off ramps have been escalated to Dan Hunt. Will provide more details on addressing concerns and enforcement.
- Then & Now tour… In conjunction with the Dorchester Historical Society, CSHCA and Norblom, the Globe Developers, we will be doing a walking tour of the old Globe site pre-development

Speakers
CSHCA will seek approval from the membership on a City of Boston ordinance on paving yards that was drafted but never approved. View the draft paving ordinance at the CSHCA website.
Karen Diep will speak to changes at Van Sha Bu including selling hard liquor license at restaurant.
James Baker will provide an update on the construction at 110 Savin Hill Avenue. He will also give an update on tenants for the building.
Catherine O’Neill will provide an update on the Dot Block demolition. More information is available in CSHCA website: DOT BLOCK.
CSHCA will take a vote to submit a comment letter for the proposal at 135 Morrissey (Globe Site). We will be voting on the content of the letter. More info on the proposal can be found in the CSHCA site at: 135 Morrissey Blvd/Globe update.
Don Walsh will provide an update on the new Visioning Committee. The committee has confirmed select sites in the neighborhood to start the focus.

Abutters Meeting: For the above mentioned property is scheduled for March 20 in the evening.
Tom English/ Dot Market: Abutters meeting is scheduled for March 22 in the basement of St. Theresa of Calcutta Church (enter at back at 73 Roseclair)… they will also present at the March 13 Planning meeting, and seek membership approval at April’s meeting.
