The Community Picnic, August 19, 2023, 12 PM to 5 PM, No rain date.
- We have three sponsors of $500 each for a total of $1,500.
- McKinnon and Company
- Cross Country Mortagage
- Banshee Bar
- A potential fourth sponsor is Vargas and Vargas Insurance. If we end up with only three sponsors, we can make it work.
- Patten’s cove is mis-spelled on the FB notice due to the Google maps and Instagram tags being wrong. Alix has tried to correct this with the respective companies to no avail.
- CSHCA T-shirts are being ordered this week from Robert Science Printing, a local business on Stoughton Street.
- Colors are neutral and light blue.
- There is a 50 T-shirt minimum at a cost of $7 and change for double-sided printing.
- We can raffle one off at the picnic.
- Others will be sold at a price to be determined after we know the full cost per shirt.
- Alix will contact Officer Keaney from District C-11 about the ice-cream truck. Marta Carney also has connections to the police.
- There was a DCR drinking water truck at a recent beach event. Alix will contact DCR about this possibility.
- Flyers will be printed and shared this week.
- Doreen and Heidi have volunteered to help with hanging flyers around the neighborhood.
- Alix will send a copy to Des Rohan to share via Constant Contact with the general membership. She will include language describing the event in a quick copy and paste format.
- Requests for Raffle Donations is divided up as follows:
- Alix Giannetti: Pooped Pooch, Connected Through Strength, The Daily
- Michelle Miller: McKenna’s and Ghost Pepper
- Heidi Moesinger: Dot Brewery
- Doreen Miller: Honeycomb Café and Colleens (for balloons)
- Balloon Ladies – we agreed not to invite them as they already provide balloon animals at the annual Halloween event.
- Caricature Artist for one hour between 1:30 – 2:30 PM
- Doreen will contact James Hobin to see if he does such a thing or knows someone who does, and if he is willing to donate a print of his artwork for the raffle.
- Michelle will contact The Bash website to seek bids for a caricature artist for one hour. We are hoping for a cost of around $200. She will also put out a request on FaceBook to see if anyone local is willing to do this.
- The Banner
- Heidi has gotten no response and plans to seek out the contact at UMB in person on Wednesday. She will request a canvas banner that can be painted on. She will get back to us with updates.
- Music includes
- A Blues Duo from 12:30-1:30 PM
- Sand Machine from 3-4 PM
- There is an open slot from 1:45-2:45.
- Heidi will ask Letterik if they are available.
- Alix has another musician in mind to ask.
- Musicians/groups will be paid $250 for performing.
- Food is being taken care of by Southline.
- The vendor can also provide tables and chairs. We will see if there is an added cost.
- Perhaps we can have two tables and ten chairs to accommodate older people.
- Games, etc.
- We will all bring what lawn games we have.
- Heidi will set up an Art Table. We will bring a string and clothes pins to hang the art work.
- Preparation
- Friday, August 18, meet at 6 PM at Patten’s Cove for a walk-through and pick up of any trash.
- Saturday, August 19, 9 AM, meet to set up the space. DCR will provide the trash bins.
- Advertising
- Alix will send Heidi a blurb and pdf of the flyer to send to The Dorchester Reporter.
- Alix will reach out to Caught in Dot.
- Heidi will post to Boston.com and the Boston Calendar
The Neighborhood Yard Sale, September 9, rain date: September 16
- Heidi will begin posting August 1 for people interested in being part of the sale.
- We can sell CSHCA T-shirts. Heidi is willing to sell them at her table.
- There can be a free book swap table set up like last year.
The Walking Tour
- Earl Taylor has yet respond. Alix will follow up.
October Music in the Park
- Heidi will contact Bill Walczak and the Savin Hillbillies on their preferred date of either Sunday, October 1, or Sunday, October 15.
- Alix will try to get the Me/2 Orchestra for 30 minutes to one hour.
- We agreed to have the musicians play longer, so we would need fewer slots to fill.

- Try to connect with the Quinn Graphics contact in person for a commitment on the banner.

- Ask Letterik if they are interested in playing from 1:45 – 2:45 at the picnic.
