The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) announced special schedules and information for the July 4th holiday. In particular:
- Bicycles will not be allowed on any subway lines for the entire day on July 4th,
- Bicycles will be prohibited on inbound Commuter Rail trains from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm as well as on outbound trains after 4:00 pm,
- Beginning at 2:00 pm, subway service on all lines will operate at rush-hour levels to accommodate increased holiday ridership, and
- Fares will not be collected on the Subway, Bus, Commuter Rail, Ferry, and the RIDE, after 9:30 pm.
