Announcements 

  1. Martin Richard Foundation… “do more serve more” is Sunday April 15th. We need several volunteers to assist at Ryan’s Playground. The Foundation is providing financial resources to purchase paint, trees, bulbs and mulch to beautify the park. The 2 hours on Sunday will be followed by a celebratory gathering later in day in Fields Corner. SIGN UP at meeting to help or thru this LINK… register for team Columbia Savin Hill Civic!

  2. Special Senate Election-  to replace Linda Dorcena Forry. The Primary Election will still occur on April 3rd followed by the Election on May 1st. More details on election can be found here: Special Senate Election Details.
  3. Town Hall with Senator Elizabeth Warren. Hosted by the Dorchester Reporter will be Thursday April 5th at 6:30 pm at the Boston Teachers Union Hall on Columbia Point, with access from Day Boulevard. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, see Warren Town Hall details.
  4. Moakley Park Vision Plan. CSHCA will be represented (hopefully) in an Advisory Group to look at the park in assisting the Park & Recreations Department to discuss and develop an updated vision for the park. A public meeting is scheduled for April 11, 2018 at 6:30pm at the Tierney Learning Center (125 Mercer Street, South Boston).   5. LOVE YOUR BLOCK – former Boston Shines will be Saturday May 5th. More details will be provided at the meeting.
  6. Thank you to the Banshee for providing an award winning Chili to support Dorchester Day (a/k/a Dot Day). Chili was great and feedback on taste was great. Thanks to volunteers from CSHCA who assisted. The Dot Day $10K drawing and fundraising event is scheduled for Friday, April 6th at Florian Hall at 7:00 pm.
    Also, thank you to Nordblom and Globe employees for doing a neighborhood tour of the former Globe… feedback was great!
  7. CSHCA Election/Nominating Committee. Membership will vote for 3 members to act as nominating committee to solicit and accept interest in a board position for next year. Nominations are due by next meeting with vote in June.

Speakers.

Representative Evandro Carvalho, a current candidate for the District Attorney’s Office, will address the membership and discuss his goals and objectives if elected the next DA.

Irene McSweeney from the Boston Water & Sewer Commission (BWSC) on a water, sewer and drain replacement project on Bay Street. The project engineer and contractor will also be in attendance to address any questions.

27 Sagamore: Legalize basement as finished space.

12 Carson Street: Refurbish existing building with addition and convert from a single to a 3 unit condo complex.

Tom English/Dot Market: 951-959 Dorchester Avenue will present a final proposal for membership vote for a 38-unit/26-parking spot complex with retail. Comment letters are due on the project by April 6th. More information about the project can be found here and at the BPDA website.
